Comforter Ministry - News & Notes

Spring 2023 - A new beginning!
A new beginning for Comforter Ministry. Our team continues to move forward with gathering new ideas and how this ministry can grow. It is a very daunting task to take on since it holds such a special place in our hearts. This is all new to us and we want to get it right.
Getting involved in this ministry has been eye opening. It amazes me how many women are diagnosed with cancer and how it impacts their lives, and the lives of the people around them. How can we help? What can we do to lighten the load that these women and the people in their lives are carrying?
Spring is a reminder that things are always changing, even though we can't see them. A tiny seed sprouts to life after being dormant in the ground for a time. How does that happen?
God's creation is such a mystery to us. We don't know His plans and how things are going to turn out. Why does God allow things to happen to people? It is so hard to understand God's plan when we look at it from our vantage point. A dear friend once pointed out the following words taken from
Mark 9:24: “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
This becomes a recurring theme as life happens and it is beyond our human understanding of what God's plan is.
As we look ahead to a new season, whether we are the cancer patient, the caretaker or a quilter using their God given talents to comfort others, let us hold firm in our beliefs that God does have a plan for our lives and that He is with us, every step of the way.
GOD'S SAFEKEEPING BIBLE VERSE -
"As our dear Father, he continues to care for his children by richly and daily providing for all our needs. He opens his hand and satisfies the desires of every living thing" (Psalm 145:16).
REMEMBER - If you know of a woman diagnosed with cancer and would like a Comforter Ministry Quilt and Journal sent to them, please contact us!
The Quilt Cupboard is full, and we are ready, willing, and able to send quilts and journals to women who can be comforted by them and the love of the Comforter!
DO YOU have a top made that you would love to donate to CM, but it needs to be quilted?
There are two longarm quilters that have generously offered to longarm quilts for Comforter Ministry. As the top maker, you would be responsible for making the top, providing a backing that is 4" larger than the top in all directions and shipping them to the longarm quilter. They will provide the batting, longarm quilting and return shipping to you. If interested, please contact them to discuss.
A COMFORTER MINISTRY WOMAN WITH A PRAYING HEART -
Some time ago Su encouraged you, dear readers, to include CM recipients in your regular prayers. We would like to continue the encouragement and emphasis on prayer. So, if you are a woman with a praying heart, we are asking you to set aside a few minutes each day or some regular time of your choosing in order to pray for Comforter Ministry Recipients, CM women who have been diagnosed with cancer.
The CM Prayer List and Prayer are found right here on this page. Simply continue scrolling down and you will find a list of names for 2022 and 2023. There are many more names, but we have chosen to share names from just the past year and current year. You are encouraged to pray not only for the specific names listed here but also in a more general reference as simply "CM Recipients" and "all those who have been diagnosed with cancer."
Please prayerfully consider being a Comforter Ministry Woman with a Praying Heart.
If you and /or others you may know would be interested in forming or already participating in a Prayer Group, would you please consider including CM in your prayers? A CM Prayer is already written and can be found after the prayer list, below.

Thank you for taking over Comforter Ministry. I received a quilt 6 1/2 years ago. I kept my quilt. When I am feeling blue, I use it to bring me comfort knowing Jesus is with me and I am not alone.
Thank you, Cindy - Hastings, MN for sharing your thoughts and supporting this ministry. We are so thankful that you are still getting comfort from the Ultimate Comforter!
I received this comforter and journal on December 20, the day before my breast cancer surgery. I cried for the second time since my diagnosis on December 3. This wasn't the same emotion that I felt the first time I cried. This emotion came from the sense of overwhelming thankfulness for the love of God as he moved others to reach out to me. First, here were two sisters in Christ - Su Hanson, who sent the quilt and journal, and Kay J who made the quilt - and all the women who have contributed to this ministry, who had given time, talents, and treasure to minister to me, a total stranger. And then my daughter...who requested the package for me. This was God's amazing grace in action. I was humbled beyond words!
When my worries within me were many, your comfort brought joy to my soul. Psalm 94:19.
...See you in heaven!
Thank you, Julie - Hartland, WI for so beautifully sharing your thoughts and emotions with us!
