Comforter Ministry - News & Notes
Reflections and Gratitude for the New Year
Looking Back on 2025
As we embark on the new year of 2026, it is always interesting to look back at the last twelve months. This past year, we have experienced the loss of many loved ones, and these moments have reminded us to place our trust in our Lord and Savior. We believe that He has a plan, one that is far greater than anything we could imagine. While we only see the world from our own limited perspective, it is reassuring to remember that much like a tapestry, the back side may appear messy and chaotic, but the true masterpiece is revealed on the front. Even though we cannot see the entire picture, we find comfort in knowing that God can.
The Growth and Impact of the Comforter Ministry
The Comforter Ministry continues to grow each year. Although we receive more requests annually, we are blessed by the increasing number of wonderful individuals who generously donate their time, talents, and treasures to help us fulfill these requests. To be honest, I wish we didn’t receive any requests at all. While that may sound strange, it comes from a place of hope — a wish that no one would ever again receive a cancer diagnosis, and that there would be no need to send quilts and journals to comfort those facing such difficult circumstances.
Yet, I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity this ministry provides. Through it, people who may never have experienced the comfort of our Lord and Savior are able to receive it. When women wrap themselves in the beautiful quilts we send, they receive not only physical warmth and comfort, but also the assurance that they are being lifted up in prayer. Along with the quilts, they receive journals filled with the promises of God’s Word, offering spiritual encouragement and hope. For all these reasons, I am thankful that we can send quilts and journals to women who might otherwise never have had the chance to feel the love of our Savior.

There are two longarm quilters that have generously offered to longarm quilts for Comforter Ministry. As the top maker, you would be responsible for making the top, providing a backing that is 4" larger than the top in all directions and shipping them to the longarm quilter. They will provide the batting, longarm quilting and return shipping to you. If interested, please contact them to discuss.

Words to Share...
I am not quite sure I can find the words to write in thanking you for this beautiful quilt that I will be using to get through my cancer treatment. It’s amazing how God always seems to find the most perfect way and timing to tell us not just who we are but “Whose” we are? That no matter how we feel in the moment that we are never ever alone.
Today was that day for me. The scriptures written in the journal for me to read were the answers to prayers just prayed this morning. That I'm still somewhat shaking with just how He chose to answer me today.
Please know that I will wrap up in this comforter for the remainder of my chemo sessions and also use it afterward for my radiation as well.
Thank you, Terra - Germantown, WI for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us. It is so helpful and encouraging to hear how the quilt and journal that you received has affected you. You are in our prayers as you go through your treatments.
Thank you for taking over Comforter Ministry. I received a quilt 6 1/2 years ago. I kept my quilt. When I am feeling blue, I use it to bring me comfort knowing Jesus is with me and I am not alone.
Thank you, Cindy - Hastings, MN for sharing your thoughts and supporting this ministry. We are so thankful that you are still getting comfort from the Ultimate Comforter!
